Just In at The Local Needle

Posted in knitting, The Local Needle Yarn Shop, Yarn, Yarn Shop activity tagged , at 1:17 pm by outdoorknitter

Just came in, a partial shipment of Schaefer Yarns.  Two colors of Laurel (worsted weight) and five colors of Susan (dk weight), both 100% mercerized pima cotton.    It’s always Christmas when opening a box of Schaefer!

We also received in a restock of 5″ fiberspheres.  These are great gadgets for working with 2 colors at the same time.  You can attach 2 of them (each with their own ball of yarn held inside) side-by-side, and the yarns don’t tangle…they stay put like good little yarn balls!

Bigger space, More Yarn!

Posted in Yarn Shop activity tagged , , , , , at 2:16 pm by outdoorknitter

No I have not dropped off the face of the earth…We’ve just been busy moving to a new location!

The Local Needle yarn shop located in the lil ‘ol town of Macclenny Florida (just west of Jacksonville) has outgrown it’s previous location, and we are pleased to announce that we are in the process of moving to a bigger and better place.

Bigger means More!

We have more Louet Gems (and we are introducing Riverstone) , Mango Moon, Alpaca With A Twist, Lorna’s Laces and Schaefer Yarns – all on their way here.

We are located just off I-10 between Jacksonville and Lake City on U.S. 90 (Macclenny Ave.). AND…we are fortunate enough to have found a place adjacent to the local coffee shop.

Mark your calendars for our ribbon cutting and open house on September 15, 2007.  We will have hourly drawings, 15% in-store/storewide sale and more.

So if you live anywhere in the vacinity, or you are travelling on I-10 in the near future, take a moment to take a drive in the country,  enjoy a small town atmosphere and come pay us visit!

On May 1, 2007, Schaefer Yarns made the following announcements:

The NEW COLORS are here! From inspiration to fomula to dye pot, they’ve had a long journey getting to the Color Concepts stage.  There are 26 NEW COLORS, 17 in wool and 9 in cotton.  By request, a number of them are monochromatics in shades of green, purple, brown and rust.  We hope you love them as much as we do!

New Knit Kits are available.  Here’s a picture of Lola Bunny Love.

The put-up on Martha has changed to a 4 oz skein (330 yards). In addition, the gauge should be 5.5 on 7’s (not 4.5).  It’s a true DK.

Speaking of DK yarn, our new mercerized pima cotton DK, Susan, will be available in June in all 18 cotton colors.  It’s the same quality as Laurel, just lighter, as requested by many of Laurel’s devoted fans.

All, coming soon to The Local Needle!
