This last weekend I spent from 5pm on Friday to 8PM on Sunday going thru an Instructor’s class for Introduction to Canoeing. I can’t remember the last time I was that tired. Both Saturday and Sunday we met at breakfast at 7:15 then on the water by 7:45. We were tested on our teaching ability, our knowledge of canoeing and safety procedures, as well as our form when performing the various strokes. We hardly had time to drink our coffee!
I don’t have as many bruises this time, but I do have the biggest one I think I’ve ever had. In fact, my paddling partner received the best bruise award on Saturday night. We were then known as “The Bruisers” the remainder of the class. I was blessed with a partner that had unlimited patience.
I came home with a great feeling of accomplishment (this, of course, came AFTER they told me that I passed and was then certified with the American Canoe Association as an instructor for Intro to Canoeing).
Perhaps I should start hosting knitter’s canoe trips. Paddle one, Knit too!
Life is good.

I blocked my scarf over the weekend and spent Monday finding a few treats to add to the package.

Today my ISE scarf was mailed off to my ISE pal. I hope she likes it. Here are a few shots of daughter modeling it for me.

Now all I have to do is wait for my scarf from my pal!

Well, I can actually say I’m half done now. I added a small seed stitch border on the sides and a twisted seed stitch edge.

It’s funny how the knitting is now rolling right along where before, when I had just started, things were difficult and I made a few mistakes and had to continually rip out. Two steps forward and one back, it seemed.
I’m going to make two halves and join them together because the pattern should run in the same direction when worn. This is the first half.

Here’s a close up of the stitch pattern.

I sure hope my ISE pal likes this scarf. It’s difficult making a scarf for another knitter. If you give a scarf to a nonknitter, they have nothing to compare it to. You don’t feel as challenged as you do knitting one for another knitter.
Anyway, I hope to have this done by the end of the weekend so I can ship it next week. I have 2 very busy weekends ahead (more canoeing and a fiber show) so it’s now or never.
